HELLO!
Deciding to seek counseling is an important decision!
AND IT TAKES GUTS!
You are sitting down with a total stranger, and this stranger proceeds to ask you all kinds of personal questions!
Who does she think she is?? 😡
You may have seen other counselors in the past and it didn't work out and you became disillusioned with counseling. The thing is, not every counselor is a good fit for every client. It's important to find someone with whom you are comfortable. Don't give up!
There's also the stigma about mental health. Many people believe that it reflects weakness or reflects negatively on your character. That is incorrect! As I said, it takes courage to ask for help and to heal. You don't need to spend your life facing mental health challenges alone.
You deserve to heal! ♥️
Let's look at this from a different perspective. 🤔
If there was something wrong with your heart or kidneys or any other part of your body, you wouldn't think twice about asking for help. Guess what!?
Your brain is just another organ in your body!! 😉
If your gallbladder was out of whack, would it be a reflection of your character? No! It's just an organ in your body that needs attention. It's nothing personal! But, it is the brain which is responsible for our thoughts and feelings......which is why it's sometimes hard to ask for help.
When you go into counseling, you should feel safe. You should be heard. You should be respected. You should not be rushed. The treatment modality used should be chosen because it best fit your needs as an individual.
It's all about YOU!☺️
